Before classes begin, students in the Emerging Leaders program will have the opportunity to participate in Camp 1913, an extended orientation and leadership retreat. During the retreat, students participate in team building exercises, engage in interactive workshops, and enjoy a whitewater rafting trip down the Ocoee River. Students will also participate in one of four outdoor activities including paintball, horseback riding, mountain biking, or a high ropes course. Over an evening bonfire with s’mores, students have the opportunity to talk to upperclassmen about life at Georgia State University.
This fall, the retreat will take place Tuesday, August 11 through Thursday, August 13 at the Whitewater Express in Copperhill, Tennessee. Transportation to the site, lodging, and meals are included in the $60 program registration. Students will meet on campus on August 11 and travel on buses to the retreat location.
